Train Your Dog Right - 3 Steps That You Make When Training You Dog

by Tobin Craig

If you have a dog then odds are they need a little help with their manners. Help your pal to understand right from wrong. With the right training and know how, you dog will be the best dog ever. All you need is the right tools and a little patience. When you start the process of training your best friend, there are some mistakes that people make that hurt them more then it helps. I want to go over a few steps that hurts your dog more then it helps.

1. Dogs are like your kid. The more you push them and punish them the more it hurts. What I mean by this is, if your dog makes a mistake and you yell and scream or spank them they will not respond as well, "They do not like this". A really good example of something bad is teasing your dog. Dogs get confused really easy and the last thing you want is a confused dog. One of the worst mistake you can make is calling Romo (that is my dogs name) and then putting him on is leash and leaving. Do not just tie him up and leave, bad idea. A really great thing to do is to play with your dog a few times a day. Call him over and talk to him like he is a kid. Let him know that you care. Dogs are meant to love and that is all they know, unless you do otherwise. If you call him over and then do bad things to him like tie him up and leave or yell, then he will not understand what to do when you just want to play or pet him, he will be skid-dish.

2. If your dog does something bad then you want to let them know, do this is a good way. Even though puppies are puppies and they love to do weird things they will not grow out of it. If you let your dog pee all over the place when he is little, well guess what he is going to do it when he gets older. So make sure you show your dog to the front door or to his pee pad. My little dog uses a pee pad and it works really well. You can get them at a pet store or any department store. It really did not take long at all for my dog to learn how to use the pads.

3. The biggest "NO" is "DO NOT" hit your dog in any way or with anything. I bet you would not hit your kid with a belt or a closet hanger. Hitting a dog will show them that it is ok to be mean and aggressive, and it is also to be known that hitting you dog makes it pee more. You want to be firm when getting on your dog, but in a good way. Give your dog a treat when it does something right.

So these three steps will start you off on the right track, make sure you start to understand your dogs personality that is important. But always remember all dogs know is how to love, so if you love them back then they will be the best dog ever. If you are having a hard time and need more guidance then let me help you.
